KATIE'S ACCIDENT

This past Sat. morning Katie and her friend Chelsea were in Prattville visiting Katie's Dad Kirk.  Katie and Chelsea with Chelsea driving a cut down jeep cherokee off road they slid in a wet spot and Chels intead of  hitting the brake hit the accelerator and crashed into a tree at 40-45 mph. Chels was penned in the jeep so Katie started running to get help the police said she ran for 3 miles.

They were taken to a hospital in Montgomery.  Chels scalp had been pulled back and her hip was dislocated.  Katie had lacerations all over her face. The largest 4 in on her cheek to the corner of her mouth and part of her bottom lip was severed.  When Libby and Keith got there they had her air lifted to Children's Hospital in Birmingham. 


That night she had a 5hr surgery.  They put in 600 stitches and found that her nose was detached from her skull and she has a small fracture of the lower orbital lobe of her left eye.  She will need more surgeries. She came home Sun night and has friends visiting  all of the time.  She still has her great sense of humor and her good self esteem so doesn't mind friends seeing her.Chels is coming home today and has to use a walker.
